• Be sure to read chapter one of The Great Gatsby
• In addition to reading the chapter, you need to sticky note the sections that pertain to the characters Tom, Daisy and Nick

Block 4

2 copies of the final draft of your This I Believe Speech is due on Friday. Please remember that this is a homework grade. If you don't bring the draft to class, and if you don't have two copies with you when you arrive to class you will NOT get the points.

Block 2

Your homework is to choose 3 or 4 passages from your This I Believe Speech, memorize them and practice delivering the speech.

In class, we spent the whole block practicing, practicing and practicing some more. The purpose of pulling out passages to practice, isn't to ignore the remainder of the text. Instead, it's better to tackle the delivery of the speech by focusing on a section at a time, with particular emphasis on the key passages of the speech.

Your delivery should pay attention to pacing, volume, emphasis, eye contact and body language.

You must practice the speech and its delivery for homework.
