1- Why would someone as terrified as Ted Lavender not injure himself in order to escape the war? 2- What would change Cross' mind about Martha when he decided to keep the second photo? 3- Which member of Alpha Company was the narrator in Love?
1. When Jimmy tells him "Don't mention anything about-", is he asking him to not mention the fact that Jimmy loved Martha so much that he was the reason Lavender died? 2. Had Martha really loved Jimmy at all? 3. By giving him a second picture, is it because she likes him back or is it because she pities the fact that he is obsessed with her?
1. Why was Jimmy Cross so in love with Martha and why didn't he go with his gut feeling and ask her to his room? 2. When Jimmy says "there's always hope, right?" does that mean that he'll never love anyone else besides Martha? 3. Because Martha said she'll never marry, does that mean that Jimmy Cross will never marry either?
1. Why would you shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane? 2. If he pulled the mask off, would he die? Would it be extremely painful? 3. What's the next step to his master plan? Had the fire been raised?

1. Why didn't Obrien describe this picture in great detail like he did with the volleyball picture of Martha? 2. Why did Jimmy smile when he said "I'd like to write a story about some of this".? 3. What made Lavenders death Cross' fault?
1.) Why does the Author choose to "flash forward" into the future? 2.) Is the Narrator Norman Bowker because he is a writer and carried a Diary? 3.) What doesn't Jimmy Cross not want him to mention?
What does Jimmy mean when he says "You writer types"? How old were Jimmy and Martha at the reunion? Why is Martha so mysterious? Wouldn't you expect Jimmy to keep more to himself after the war?
1. Is Jimmy's way of clinging to life before the war obsessing over his memories of Martha? 2. Have we already learned what Jimmy didn't want the narrator of "Love" to mention (possibly Lavender's death)? Or have we yet to find out? 3. How long after Jimmy and Martha's reunion does "Love" take place?
1.) on page 26 we see that the death of Lavender is still affecting Cross, but what could he have possibly done to stop the man from walking away to use the "bathroom"? 2.) On page 28 Martha says she "didn't understand how men could do those things". I'm not positive as to what she meant but is it possible that it's a hint she just doesn't like men in general? 3.) Does Cross understand that telling a girl he came close to tying her up and touching her knee for the remainder of the night can make someone extremely uncomfortable? This leads me to question his social life.

1) It seems clear that Martha is not interested in ever being in a relationship with Jimmy. With that being said, will Jimmy ever move on or try to pursue love again? 2) This chapter is the first time the narrator talked in a first person point of view, showing a little more about him personally but not much. Who is the narrator? Has he been mentioned yet? And why hadn't the narrator spoke in the first person point of view in the first chapter?
